From a young age, growing up in a house of six sisters, I found myself naturally drawn to empowering the women around me to be a voice of strength and inspiration. It was there, among the laughter and lessons of sisterhood, that the seed was planted for the journey I would one day take.
Becoming a midwife has been one of the most transformative stories of my life a path woven with moments of triumph and trials that shaped me as a person. Through every high and every low, what anchored me was knowing deep within my heart that Allah had written this for me. He had honoured me with the sacred trust of supporting women during some of the most vulnerable yet powerful moments of their lives. Alhamdulilah, for being placed in such a position of love and responsibility, a position that touches both this world and the next.
It is my greatest privilege to walk alongside women throughout their pregnancy journeys, whether the path is long or fleeting, filled with joy or touched by sorrow. I have had the honour of caring for mothers whose arms may be empty but whose hearts still carry the sacred name of ‘mother.’ To me, every woman who carries life for a moment or a lifetime holds a divine nobility that cannot be measured.
My work is not just about attending births, it is about holding space for women in their strength, their softness, their grief, and their triumph. It is about witnessing the unseen battles, the whispered prayers, and the resilient faith that births not just babies but new versions of themselves.
At Birthing Muslimah, we are here to empower, to honour, and to celebrate you because you were never meant to walk this journey alone.
My name is Sahra. I’m a Muslim, and Midwife, a mother/stepmother to five beautiful boys, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and the bestie of my Co-Founder Nusi. I am a woman whose life’s work is built on faith, love and care. And yes my hands are very full but my heart is fuller Alhamdulilah.
From an early age, I felt a calling to walk beside women, to nurture, protect, and champion them through one of life’s most sacred journeys.
Over the years, I’ve gained expertise in postnatal care and hold a special love for the third trimester, a time when women stand at the edge of transformation, needing not just skilled care, but also a heart that understands the unspoken.
I have had the privilege of working across various wards in maternity, giving me a deep, intuitive understanding of the support women truly need.
Midwifery is more than a career to me; it is a path chosen for me by Allah, a sacred trust to care for mothers, honour the powerful bonds between mother’s and babies, and guide women through all the fruitful chaos, growth, and beauty that motherhood brings.
Through Birthing Muslimah, we have been able to weave together our devotion to our faith with our passion for being with women, offering Muslim women care that speaks to both their bodies and their souls.
In my spare time (“she has spare time?!), you’ll find me in the kitchen cooking and baking for my family and friends, wandering through nature’s calm, enjoying a good cup of matcha or a pistachio latte (depending on my mood), or sharing laughter and heartfelt conversations with my best friend.
Every woman’s story is unique, and I feel deeply honoured to walk alongside each woman with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering care. Because you truly deserve it.
